The Department of Social Work of Don Bosco College, Panaji organized a two day national seminar on the topic ‘The Development of Indian Constitution and the Contemporary Challenges to Modern India’ on March 5 and 6, 2019. The seminar was hugely informative and provided the participants, academicians and the teaching faculty, with enormous knowledge on various aspects of Indian Constitution and the fundamental rights of its citizens. This two day seminar marked the presence of some eminent speakers. After every session there was a fruitful discussion that followed.
The program started with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony at the hands of the chief guest IAS officer Secretary to Governor of Goa, Rupesh Kumar Thakur. The other dignitaries present were manager Fr Joaquim Lobo, assistant manager Fr Savio Gomes, Principal Cedric Silveira, coordinator of Social Work department Pratibha Majik and the moderator Balaji Shenoy.
Resource persons like Balaji Shenoy, archivist, directorate of archives and archeology, advocate Cleofato Coutinho Almeida, Dr Seema Fernandes, assistant director of Goa Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development, Fr Maverick Fernandes, director, Caritas Goa, Advocate Albertina Almeida, Dr Saba V M Da Silva, principal of Kare College of Law, Prabhakar Timble former State election commissioner of Goa, Dr Rahul Tripathi, head of the department of Political Science, Goa University, advocate Shahrukh Alam and Advocate Radharao Gracias. The seminar was concluded with the closing remarks by Provincial Fr Felix Fernandes followed by the vote of thanks by Ryan Fernandes. The certificates of participation were presented to the delegates and the teachers from different institutions of Goa and India. The speakers of the two day seminar were honoured with a memento, the preamble of the Indian Constitution. The seminar registered active participation of around 50 teaching staff who came from various colleges and institutes of India.
