Nirmaan - organisation founded by BITS Pilani students with a passion to fulfill their responsibility towards the less privileged people of the society and Spree, the sports festival of BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus successfully organised Udaan 2019 - a sports festival for the differently-abled children across various schools of Goa. Over 150 students from four different schools participated in day long Udaan 2019 which was organized in collaboration with Special Olympics Association Bharat, Goa and Paralympics Association of Goa. Prof G Raghurama, Director of BITS Pilani Goa Campus graced the prize distribution ceremony and presented medals and certificates to the winners. He praised the participants and congratulated the volunteers for making this event a phenomenal success.
The morning session began with different categories of judo participated by the children with hearing impairment who learn under the supervision of their coach, Shintre and his team. Spectators witnessed nail-biting finishes showcased by these powerhouses of talent. The afternoon session started with fun-filled games, activities and dance for the children followed by sports such as football, softball, bocce and athletics. After the completion of all organised sports, Nirmaan volunteers celebrated by playing with the students, enjoying themselves and clicking pictures at a photo-booth set up for the children.
