For the last 15 days, the door of a transformer situated adjacent to the fire station at Varkhandem in Ponda has been lying on the ground. As a result, the said transformer exists in an exposed condition thereby posing a serious threat to pedestrians including innocent school students proceeding along this route. The above undesirable situation amply depicts that the maintenance work of the electricity department is not up to the mark.
It is absolutely necessary that the collapsed door of this transformer is re-fixed at the earliest so that safety is assured to precious human lives. Alternately, rectification of such defects at the appropriate time would ultimately improve the image of this important department in the minds of the public at large.
As on Sunday, March 11 at 8:45 am, the situation in this regard was found to be stagnant. Let us hope that the higher officials at this department would initiate swift favourable action in this regard in public interest. No doubt, pedestrians need to be assured safety at all costs.
