The issue of garbage disposal has been plaguing the State for a long time now and there seems to be no solution in sight. There are designated spots in every city and village in the State where garbage bins are placed and the citizens are expected to place the garbage in these bins. However one of the problem is that these bins are many a times seen overflowing with thrash strewn all over the place even as stray cattle and stray dogs feast on it. What is necessary is the timely collection of the garbage from these designated spots by the civic body or the panchayat. However, it is observed that at several places there is a huge build-up of heaps of garbage, specially, on weekends or when there is a holiday. It would be desirable that the authorities collect the garbage every day, and if possible even twice a day, and also make arrangement to collect the garbage on weekends and during prolonged holidays.
