Parrikar’s future?
What are the chances of Mr. Parrikar retaining the Defense Minister portfolio in Delhi? 50-50, commentators say. First, he has not been able to make a major dent as Raksha Mantri. Then he, sadly, has not secured Modi’s trust and good-will. Then, there’s big boss, Mr. Gadkari, eyeing covetously the Defense portfolio, so much, that Parrikar had reportedly to seek Mohan Bhagwat’s intervention to foil Gadkari’s plans.
If that is so, what about this talk of Parrikar returning as CM of Goa? It goes without saying, everyone for now is watching with immense glee the boxing match going on between RSS Goa and Parrikar. Instead of throwing jabs their verbal duels to the extent of dubbing each other as “chronic liars” are providing much entertainment to the galleries. One thing is true. The Opposition should not provide Parrikar any space to indulge in his favourite politricks. He is the most manipulative and wily politician that there has ever been.

Commuting issues
In these days of reckless driving and non-following of traffic rules by some, road safety week is a good idea. Rules or no rules, the public should be concerned about safety, not only their own but their family and the general public, whose life is precious and who may have dependents.
Whiles driving, answering the cell phone in the middle of the road is another problem, sometimes people forget that they are driving, when the phone rings suddenly they put their hand in their pocket to remove their cell phone to answer, and the vehicle starts to zig-zag. One major problem these days is road cutting, which is often of very poor quality, in some places the cables are seen. In monsoon they may be hanging out. It is difficult to ride two wheelers like this.

Make it permanent
After successfully staging the DefExpo 2016 in a short period, the Government of Goa should take the initiative and create awareness with the local people of Quittol in order to earmark Naqueri “ Quittol as a permanent venue for exhibitions on the lines of the Pragati Maidan in Delhi. The permanent venue could cater to all international trade fairs, special exhibitions, international book fair and defence expo exhibitions, with all civic amenities like toilets, drinking water provided and garbage collected on a daily basis to keep the area clean. Having a permanent exhibition ground, it will eliminate the usual hassles created by some politicians for their own selfish gains without studying the monetary benefits that would derive for the natives of the village. The natives of Quittol should be given first preference as far as allotment of food stalls, to ply tourist taxis etc with standard approved rates by the Govt. With the recent DefExpo 2016, around 490 foreign defence equipment manufacturing firms from over a dozen countries participated in the international event.
