John F. Kennedy had said “We will neglect our cities to our peril, for in neglecting them we neglect the nation.” The much talked about Panaji’s first multi-level car park which opened in November 2016 and is hardly being utilized even during the peak tourist season is a very glaring example of the slanted planning of so-called developmental works by this government. An unpardonable criminal waste of public funds. Panaji will never be a Smart City with such skewed corrupt propellers in command. Those who planned this much needed utility but at the wrong location must be brought to book and punished for having intentionally burdened us with this White Elephant. May be that idling car park could now be put to some alternative use, perhaps as a shelter for the poor homeless who presently sleep on Panaji’s footpaths or even to house those straying cattle who pose a grave danger to the motorists on the roads.
