Independent MLA from Fatorda, Vijai Sardesai is at it again. Despite the quick collapse of the G8 and refusal of the Congress to team up with him, Sardesai refuses to give up. This time he has teamed up with the UGDP, which always raises its head during the elections, to form an anti-BJP front. The Assembly elections are a year away and alliances rarely fall in place so early. United fronts tend to take shape a few weeks before the polls and perhaps, Vijai would do well to preserve his energy for the last lap. Also, a question that he needs to ask himself is, why is no one keen on jumping on to my bandwagon? Perhaps, he is trying too hard. Perhaps, no one believes in his anti-BJP agenda. Perhaps, no one is on the same page with him. It is difficult to tell so early in the game.

Cigarette manufacturers in the country are gearing up for a showdown with the government over pictorial warnings on packs.
