Recently, streetlight fixtures adjacent to Bagayatdar Bhawan at Upper Bazaar in Ponda were found functional during broad daylight. As on Thursday June 21, these fixtures were working at 2:10pm, on Friday, June 22 at 10 am and on Saturday, June 23 at 9 am. As per rules, the same are supposed to be switched off at 6 am. Making the best use of available power supply is the real need of the hour. This would certainly reduce our dependence on neighbouring states. I hereby request the higher officials at the electricity department in Ponda to take serious note of the above important matter and conduct a enquiry on the same. Officials found negligent should be taken to task at once without any discrimination. Indeed, wastage of much precious power supply must be avoided at all costs.
