GOA UK conducts annual pilgrimage to Aylesford

LONDON

Over 300 pilgrims gathered for the annual pilgrimage organised by the Goan Association (UK) at Aylesford on September 24.

Fr Feroz Fernandes, sfx, from Goan Chaplaincy UK, led the congregation in prayer, offering the special Eucharist, spiritual reflection and a solemn benediction.

The day began with open-air confessions, Rosary, an Our Lady of Mount Carmel procession and the Mass.

“Happiness is in serving, saving others and saluting the ones who display such behaviours,” said Fr Feroz Fernandes, in his homily.

Fr Feroz encouraged the pilgrims not to change their good behaviour due to the unhealthy behaviour of others.

The community offered special prayers for the deceased member of the association.

Bella Fernandes, GOA UK PR and Social Director who has been organising the pilgrimage since the last six years, said people from different parts of the UK participated in the pilgrimage.

“Coaches transported pilgrims from Hounslow, Southall, Wembley, Woodgreen, Ilford, East Ham, Tooting and Croydon. Besides, many came in their own transport from Kent, Woolwich, Plumstead and other parts of London.

“A choir led by Inacio led the congregation in singing hymns in Konkani and English at the service, and they also entertained crowd with a number of songs in the evening. Savio Caterers provided the food, snacks and refreshments to the pilgrims. The pilgrimage ended at 6 pm,” said Bella.

GOA UK President Ravi Vaz thanked the people for participating in the pilgrimage.
