Goan Association Kampala marks Feast of St Francis Xavier with community fervour

MELBOURNE

The Goan Association Kampala joyfully celebrated the Feast of St Francis Xavier at Christ the King Church, Kampala-Uganda. The event drew a vibrant gathering of 50–60 attendees, including many members of the local Ugandan community who joined the Goans in honouring St Francis Xavier.

The Mass was celebrated by three priests, Msgr Gerald Kalumba (the main celebrant), Fr Timothy, and Fr Paul.

Both Fr Timothy and Fr Paul had visited Goa last year for the Exposition of the Sacred Relics of St Francis Xavier, bringing added meaning and connection to this year’s celebration. Together, the priests guided the congregation through a peaceful and spiritually uplifting liturgy, reminding everyone of the remarkable missionary life and enduring legacy of St Francis Xavier.

The choir, led by Flavia and Romeous, enriched the celebration with hymns that created a joyful and prayerful atmosphere throughout the Mass.

Following the liturgy, attendees gathered to share snacks, cake, and refreshments, offering a warm space for fellowship, conversation, and community bonding.

The entire celebration was planned and coordinated under the leadership of Stanley Joseph, whose efforts ensured that the feast was conducted smoothly and meaningfully.

The Goan Association Kampala extends heartfelt gratitude to all who attended and supported the event, as their presence helped strengthen the spirit of togetherness and made the feast day memorable.
