Padrik Nanv Na? The truth will triumph

Bringing a storyline that gives a subtle message between the lines, the film has a good imact despite some flaws

A priest is posted in a parish in the name of the Bishop. The priest leaves everything aside and works in the vineyard of God serving God’s people with all sincerity and dedication. But what happens when the Will of God is not followed by some people who use the church and its organizations to build an empire for themselves looting and cheating the church and Christians? When a priest trying to interpret the Will of God goes deep into the proceedings of the church organizations, what could be the repercussions? Padrik Nanv Na? is a superb thriller that recounts the sacrifices of priests working to bring the kingdom of God on earth.

Storyline

The storyline is nice and simple but has a deep connotation and meaning for the ones reading between the lines. A priest is defamed and another priest is posted in his place. The priest learns from his faithful that the defamed priest truly worked in the name of God. The young priest tries to research and dig deeper into the facts of the matter and reaches the core of the problem. Satyameva Jayate! Truth always triumphs but at what cost? The storyline has a good trail to offer.

Screenplay

The screenplay moves at a slow pace, but the developments are interesting. Even so, the screenplay gets unnecessarily diverted into side plots. The director is also the actor in the film andsome scenes have been introduced into the film probably to give a greater footage to his character.

Music

There is beautiful background score given to the film by Elick Vaz. However the presence of some meaningful songs could have led the film to really touch the hearts of the audience. There was a lot of scope for songs and picturisation.

Acting

Pradeep Naik plays a perfect priest in the film. His actions, walk movements, expressions et al speaks of his greatness as an actor. Nitin Kolvenkar is the other priest but the Director has not worked enough to give him the appearance of a priest. Nevertheless his emotional expressions are superb. Viraj Salkar is too amateurish, badly dressed and overacting! The character of the female lead is not developed to the potential, nevertheless she gives a good performance. Fr Salvador, Fr. Savio, Damodar Dicholkar, Damodar Naik are convincing. There are cameos played by the versatile Diana de Candolim and ANtonet D’Souza. Both are very convincing and natural.

Cinematography

The film is shot mainly in Pilar and the photographic visuals are mainly concretised. This has given very little scope for the cameraman to shoot the locality with picturesque angles. The editing of the film has been beautifully done and looks as if the editors have turned the otherwise average film into a good one.

Direction

This is one department where the film takes a low and the result is seen in all departments and segments of film making. There is no clarity of thought and the implementation is with flaws. The appearance of charactors onscreen is not thought of and planned. The financially weak charactors go about in classy cars and the well to do go about in low budget cars is just not acceptable.
