Reviving & redefining handloom!

Designer Ninoshka showcased her latest handloom collection called the khadi - shibori collection at the grand finale of the International fashion week held at Taj Vivanta, Panjim.


15 models sashed slowly down the ramp accompanied by original instrumental music by a talented young duo Udhav Naik on guitar, and Kishore Bandodkar on the tabla ; playing amidst scented candles and flowers giving the whole show a totally natural unconventional look. The collection bought two eastern crafts together, as “Itajime Shibori”, a hand dyeing technique of Japanese origin was used on khadi to create fluid garments dyed in organic dyes like lac and madder.   In a bold statement, she walked the ramp herself alongwith her son Daniel to celebrate Womens day, while wearing a traditional Adivasi handloom sari which she has been helping revive along with a group of people led by Dr Rohit Phalgaokar a historian.
