BHARATI PAWASKAR
When we hear someone mentioning about Dr Batra’s, we at once know that it has something to do with Homeopathy. The word Dr Batra’s is synonymous with Homeopathy in India as the brain behind this brand is Padma Shri recipient Dr Mukesh Batra -himself a renowned homeopath of international repute and author of bestselling books. Dr Batra’s numerous books have contributed to make Homeopathy a household name in India and abroad. His earlier books - ‘Every man’s guide to Homeopathy’, ‘Problems of the mind’, ‘The wonder years’ and ‘Healing with Homeopathy’ are already bestsellers.
“However, this is my first book that does not talk about Homeopathy and I am glad I collaborated with the fabulous storyteller Ashwin Sanghi whose communication skills have helped to strongly convey my message of good health in a simple way,” admits Dr Batra as he holds his latest book - ‘13 Steps to Bloody Good Health’ with a thumps up and a big smile.
Sanghi, another bestseller Indian writer in the fiction-thriller genre needs no separate introduction. Apart from his umpteen books on historical, theological and mythological themes, Sanghi has, to his credit, three best-selling novels - The Rozabal Line, Chanakya’s Chant and The Krishna Key. Sanghi’s magical style has done wonders to Dr Batra’s book which was ranked at No 9 on the non-fiction books list within two weeks of its low-profile launch on January 22, this year.
It is a self-help book on lifestyle diseases elaborating the scientific (not generic) reasons why one develops these ailments. Keeping his approach not too technical, Dr Batra has offered tips for laymen to follow and climb the steps to good health and stay there till the end.
The biggest success of this latest book can be seen in the weight loss of both the authors - Dr Batra himself lost 13 kilos in two years during the process of writing this book while Sanghi lost 21 kilos after going through the manuscript and practicing the principles himself (knowingly or unknowingly) advised by Dr Batra.
“But my book is not on weight loss,” quips Dr Batra wittily. With his experience accumulated over 45 years in the field of medicine, he feels that he must share his knowledge with others. The 200 pages book priced at Rs 250 is available across all leading book stores, at airports in India, on Amazon.in as well as at all of Dr Batra’s Homeopathy clinics and of course, on Kindle.
“People spend money on health fads which are often unnecessary and sometimes even dangerous. I therefore thought if I could pen down the most important things for good health that often get overlooked, it could motivate people to live happier and healthier lives,” shares Dr Batra who has launched his YouTube video series three weeks ago - Dr Batra’s Healthcare which saw one million viewers in the first week itself. So far Dr Batra has spoken on depression, hair loss and migraine. He wishes to take up one topic per week and air this channel for the entire year. “I want to reach out to 25 million people in a year,” he expresses.
Speaking on Homeopathy, Dr Batra claims that practiced in 80 countries, Homeopathy is the second largest branch of medicine. He points out that while allopathy has seen an annual growth of 10 per cent in the past five years, Homeopathy is registering a growth of 25 per cent per year.
“There is greater awareness of safety and side effects of chemical drugs and so people want to practice healthy ways of living and safe medicines. In India, approximately 10 crore people in the metros opt for Homeopathy, which is little less than 10 per cent of the population. This is great,” quips this founder and chairman emeritus of Dr Batra’s group of companies who manages the largest chain of homeopathic clinics including day-care aesthetic solutions and wellness products.
Although homeopathy is a science that has enjoyed a long standing relationship in the country, yet it was not a popular system of medicine initially. Realising that if the science was to become a part of main-stream medicine, it was important to make homeopathy accessible to people and educate them about its side-effect free and natural curative properties. That’s why Dr Batra wrote extensively in newspapers, magazines, books, internet and social media platforms.
Dr Batra’s informative web-series ‘Good health and Homeopathy’ provides information on the causes, symptoms, self-help tips and suggested remedies for different ailments. His cyber clinic - ‘Ask Dr Batra’s entertains queries and couriers medicines. His website throws light on Homeopathy. Similarly, ‘13 Steps To Bloody Good Health’ highlights different, seemingly innocent problem areas like sleep, hydration, moderation, movement, love and more, and enlightens the reader about corrective and preventive disciplines that lead to happier and healthier people in a light jovial tone. Best part is, the book is available on Kindle too.
