The village of Ambelim celebrated the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, patroness of its Chapel on Sunday. Five Masses were celebrated due to the ongoing pandemic. Fr Gabriel Coutinho, parish priest of Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim, was the main celebrant at the Feast Mass at 10 am, which was concelebrated by Fr Sertorio Rodrigues, parish priest of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Assolna, and Fr Camilo Dias, chaplain of Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel, Ambelim, and other priests.
In his homily Fr Coutinho spoke about how secularism has led to a belief of an absence of God in the lives of people, hedonism is the result of lust that dominates relations rather than care and concern, while materialism has led to valuing of money and fame more than the presence of God. After the Feast Mass, there was a procession with the participation of the Confraria, parish pastoral council and priests while adhering to restrictions and guidelines due to the ongoing pandemic.
