VASCO: The Goa Barge Owners Association (GBOA) on Wednesday submitted a charter of demands to Ports Minister Digambar Kamat at the Secretariat, seeking steps for the welfare and revival of the State’s barge industry. The delegation, led by GBOA President Mayur Parsekar, included Vice President M. Derrick Valles, Secretary Rahul Naik, Treasurer Alex Coutinho, Raymond De Sa and other executive members. Captain of Ports Octavio Rodrigues was also present.
The association raised issues affecting barge owners and urged the government to strengthen Goa’s inland water transport sector. Kamat assured the delegation that their concerns would be addressed on priority and necessary action would be taken. Rodrigues also assured support in resolving issues and promoting the industry’s sustainable growth.
