Complaining that the State government had failed to control Covid in the State, the Goa Rakhnadar Association (GRA) on Wednesday demanded a Covid care centre for Sattari taluka.
A memorandum to this effect was submitted by a GRA delegation to Sattari Deputy Collector Rajesh Ajgaonkar.
While interacting with the deputy collector, Subhash Kerkar and Avinash Bhosale said the government had failed to tackle the spread of Covid and this had led to a severe impact on healthcare in the State.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Kerkar, Bhosale and Vishwesh Prabhu demanded that the government set up Covid care centres across the State.
“Despite the fact that local MLA is the health minister, there is presently no Covid care centre in Sattari and Covid patients have to be sent to such centres in other parts of the State, causing them and their families a lot of problems,” said Kerkar.
“If the government does not pay serious attention to this issue, our organisation will take this issue seriously in the near future,” he added.
