The Dempo College faculty, student volunteers at the E-Waste collection drive at Cujira.

The UBA Cell, NSS Unit and Department of IT of DCT’s Srinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce and Economics organized an ‘E- Waste Awareness & Collection Drive’ as a community engagement activity in collaboration with Santa Cruz Village Panchayat and MOU Partner Group Ten Plus. The event was held on January 26 and began with the flag hoisting at the panchayat. The student volunteers and Ashley Delaney spoke to the members about types, effects and effective ways of disposing E-Waste using placards and posters created by college students. Later, the faculty members and student volunteers went door-to-door around Cujira with the guidance of the Ward Panch Perpetua De Souza and interacted with the residents about the types, effects and safe disposal of e -waste at centres like Dempo College and the panchayat. The student volunteers collected a significant amount of e-waste during this drive from about 29 houses.
