The Goa State Expert Appraisal Committee(SEAC) has directed Salgaocar Shipping Company Ltd to submit details of anystudy or analysis carried out on the proposed transport system, including theuse of roads in Sirigao and Mayem villages, for transporting ore from theSirigao-Mayem Mineral Block (II).
The direction was issued while scrutinisingthe company's application for the mineral block spread over 171.2472 ha inSirigao-Mayem villages of Bicholim taluka.
Among the information sought by the committeeis a report on any study or analysis conducted for the proposed transportationsystem, raising questions over the basis and impact assessment of the proposedore movement through the village roads.
The SEAC has also directed the projectproponent to submit details of the monitoring stations on the original proposedroutes, as well as details of the seven proposed routes used by any othermining dump company.
The company has further been asked to furnishdetails of schools, medical facilities and temples or other religious placeslocated along the proposed routes.
