PANAJI: In a move aimed at ensuring uninterrupted banking services ahead of the proposed three-day nationwide bank strike, all Public Sector Banks and Regional Rural Banks will remain operational on Sunday.
The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has called for a nationwide strike from September 28 to 30. The strike follows the weekend holidays on September 26 and 27, which could otherwise result in an extended disruption to banking services. The Reserve Bank of India has approved the operation of all bank branches, offices, ATM-linked branches and Currency Chests on September 27.
The government said the decision has been taken to ensure that the banking requirements of the public are not adversely affected over an extended period.
The Department said the welfare and convenience of bank customers remains a priority. The government and bank managements have also appealed to the unions to defer the proposed strike and have taken measures to ensure that essential banking services continue without interruption.
