MARGAO: Goa State Haj Committee Chairman Urfan Mulla has demanded a direct flight service from Goa to Saudi Arabia for Haj pilgrims, as the number of pilgrims from the State has increased to more than 220. A delegation led by Mulla met BJP State president Damu Naik and urged him to take up the demand with Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is scheduled to visit Goa on September 6 to inaugurate the BJP office.
Mulla said a direct flight from Goa would provide greater convenience, reduce travel-related hardships and make the Haj journey easier for pilgrims from the State. “Haj is a sacred journey, and every possible effort should be made to ensure our pilgrims travel with dignity, comfort and ease,” Mulla said.
