PANAJI: Konknni Daiz Trust and Sahityik ani Sonskrutik Daiz have jointly announced a Short Story Writing Competition to encourage and promote Konkani literature in the Roman script. The competition will be held in two categories — Children’s Literature and General Short Story. Entries in the children’s category should be original stories of 350 to 500 words, while general short stories should be between 1,500 and 2,000 words. The competition is open to all without any age limit. Entries must be original, unpublished works written in Roman script Konkani. Participants can submit one entry in each category. Stories of outstanding literary merit will be selected for publication in a book to be released during the prize distribution ceremony. Winners in each category will receive cash prizes along with mementos and certificates. The first prize carries Rs 2,000, the second prize Rs 1,500, and the third prize Rs 1,000. The last date for submitting entries is August 17, 2026.
War memorial demand raised at Kargil Vijay Diwas event
PANAJI: The 27th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas was observed at the Martyrs’ Memorial, Azad Maidan, Panaji, on Sunday, with tributes paid to soldiers who lost their lives during the 1999 Kargil War.
