St Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa, was awarded for ranking 8th in India and first in Goa in the category of India’s Best Government-Aided Schools as per the Cfore School Rankings 2025.

The award was presented to St Xavier’s HSS Principal, Victoria de Souza, along with Vice Principal, Fr Agnelo Fernandes, two teacher representatives, PTA chairman and past pupils association president, at Taj Vivanta, Dwarka, New Delhi, on September 10.

“Out of a total of 1,300, our institution scored 975 points, with the highest school scoring 1,011. While we scored modestly on infrastructure, our high rating in leadership and governance was noteworthy,” said St Xavier’s HSS Principal, Victoria de Souza.

“Our school was evaluated on 12 parameters, including Teacher Competence and Relationship, Leadership and Governance, Pedagogy, Teacher Care, Academic Rigour, Personalised Education, Co-curricular Activities, Sports, Life Skills, Alumni Engagement, Infrastructure, and Parental Participation.”

“This recognition is a proud moment for all Xaverites spread across the globe and the Diocesan Society of Education under the leadership of His Eminence, Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão. We express our gratitude to all stakeholders, and thank Almighty God and our patron, St Francis Xavier, for this blessing,” she added.

Cfore, India’s first school ranking survey, introduced in 2001, seeks to identify “what truly makes a school great”.

According to its founder, Premchand Palety, great schools are built on exceptional teachers, effective pedagogy, visionary leadership, and a culture that fosters holistic development.
