All eight councillors of the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) panel backed by Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida extended their support to Almeida and said they would stand by him at the upcoming elections, irrespective of the party he would contest from. "It is very clear that we are in full support of Almeida, who has said he may be forced to take a harsh decision if the need arises. It is very clear that he will definitely contest the elections in 2022 and whichever ticket he contests on, all of us as a team will be with Almeida for the upcoming elections,” said Councillor Fredrick Henriques. “We have won our council elections because of him and it is our duty to be with him now.”
