Ashwin Tombat in GUJ series ‘Behind the Byline’ on Feb 20

PANAJI: Veteran journalist Ashwin Tombat will feature in the Goa Union of Journalists’ monthly series ‘Behind The Byline – Know your GUJ Member’ on February 20 at 4 pm at the GUJ Hall, Shram Shakti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji. He will be in conversation with The Times of India sports editor Marcus Mergulhao.

Born in Mumbai, Tombat began his career on the editorial board of Bombay University’s student monthly Kalam (1978–1982). He later worked with Colour & Chemical Weekly and the magazine Gentleman. Since moving to Goa in 1989, he has served as editor of Gomantak Times, O Heraldo and the online edition of The Navhind Times, and also edited Goa Today. 

Beyond journalism, he has been swim director for Ironman Goa and organised cross-Mandovi swims for students since 1998. He is currently president of the Goa Triathlon Association and secretary of Children’s Rights in Goa.
