Medical camp draws strong public response on World Red Cross Day

PANAJI: A free medical camp was organised at the Indian Red Cross Society office in Panaji to mark World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day. The event was a joint initiative by the Indian Red Cross Society Goa State Branch and Manipal Hospitals.

The Directorate of Health Services conducted hepatitis diagnosis, led by Dr Medha Salkar, State Programme Officer for the National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme. Dr Shekar Arolkar and his team also participated.

Vice Chairman Manguerish Pai Raikar highlighted the Red Cross Society’s humanitarian efforts and medical contributions in Goa. General Secretary John Aguiar outlined the Society’s ongoing support services. Salim Isani and Chairman Gaurish Dhond were also present.

The Manipal team included specialists across neurology, oncology, dentistry, and emergency care. Red Cross staff members assisted with smooth coordination.

Tributes were paid to Red Cross founder Jean Henry Dunant on his birth anniversary. This year’s theme was “Keeping Humanity Alive.”

The camp saw an enthusiastic response from the public, with people from all walks of life availing themselves of the free services. Rio Couto concluded the event with a vote of thanks.
