PANAJI: Goa’s Tourism Department has announced that the annual São João festival will be celebrated on June 24, 2025, in Siolim village. The event aims to engage both locals and tourists in experiencing the rich traditions of the monsoon festival. Tourism Director Kedar Naik said the celebration will help promote community-driven tourism. “Through such festivals, we aim to encourage community-driven tourism experiences that honour local identity while offering engaging experiences for visitors,” he said.

The celebrations will begin with the traditional boat parade. Goa Tourism will take part with a specially designed boat featuring a monsoon mascot. A themed dance performance, specially choreographed for the occasion, will follow. As part of São João’s customs, the symbolic leap into wells and streams — commemorating St John the Baptist — will also take place, with participants celebrating the monsoon season with joy and enthusiasm.
