Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) has expressed deep condolences on the untimely demise of ex-MLA Teotonio Pereira, former vice-president of DKA, stating, “By Teotonio Pereira’s death DKA has lost a staunch supporter and well-wisher of Konkani cause.” Representing St Andre constituency for four terms, Teotonio joined the Congress party after serving initial three terms on the United Goans Party.
“He was gravely involved in the Goa Opinion Poll ensuring that Goa remains a separate identity of India. He was also involved in the language agitation and worked to accept Konkani as the official language of the state,” stated DKA. Teotonio was felicitated by DKA for his contribution for Konkani by organizing ‘Konknni Mogiak Bhett’ and releasing a book on the occasion.
