PANAJIThe Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Center is a department with fully equipped occupational therapy, physiotherapy, neuro rehabilitation, speech therapy and child development center serving the medical needs, surgical consults and practical goal based rehabilitation to make the patient as independent as possible. “Healthway Hospital has added a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) Center to its health services in Goa to cater to the needs of physically and mentally debilitating disorders,” announced Dr Virendra Gaonkar, chairman of Healthway Hospital. “Having a comprehensive department such as this, would have a significant impact on recovery of patients post cerebral stroke, spinal injury, those with neurological and gait deformity, speech disorders and post amputation,” said Dr Gaonkar. The absence of an exclusive PMR Center at Goa forced the family members of such patients to rush them to neighbouring states causing loss of vital time, stress and expenses.
