Financial relief from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund was handed over to five shopkeepers at the Bicholim old market as compensation after their shops were recently gutted in a fire.
Bicholim MLA Chandrakant Shetye hand over a cheque for Rs 1 lakh each to the five shopkeepers. He informed that the additional assistance will be provided through the Disaster Management Relief Fund at the earliest. Others present on the occasion included Dr Dinesh Amonkar, Councillor Aparna Fogueri, businessmen Rajan Kadkade, Narahari Sawant, Narayan Betkikar, Rajan Naik, Eknath Lamgaonkar and others. The five shops had been gutted in a fire causing a combined loss of about Rs 70 lakh.
