St Cruz MLA Tony Fernandes laid corner stones for ‘Nana Nani’ parks, one near the Santa Cruz playground and the other near Merces playground, on Monday. Both the parks would be built at a cost of around Rs 44 crore. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Fernandes informed that the parks will have multiple exercising units to help the senior citizens keep themselves fit. “In old age, people face a lot of health problems and such parks would help them to keep healthy,” Fernandes stated and advised the senior citizens to take advantage of the parks, when they are completed. At the Santa Cruz function, Deputy Sarpanch Indira Fernandes, panchas Prasad Naik, Namdev Naik, Lawrence Rodrigues, Mariano Araujo, Chimbel ZP member Girish Uskaikar and others were present. At the Merces function, Sarpanch Geeta Kavlekar, panchas Venacio Gonsalves and Swapnil Amonkar, Anil Hoble, former sarpanchas Assis Fernandes and Yatin Palekar, and others were present.
