Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte today felicitated Drishti Marine lifesavers involved in the recent rescue of 27 fishermen who were onboard a distressed fishing boat that capsized after being stranded in the Mobor river mouth for several hours. In a crucial midnight operation which involved the combined teamwork of over 25 lifesavers - in the sea and on shore - Drishti Marine carried out the rescue effort and administered post-rescue medical first aid to the rescued fishermen, which led to lives being saved. The monsoon conditions with high waves and winds made the rescue challenging, according to Drishti Marine. Speaking to the lifesavers Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said, "Rescuing 27 fishermen was a truly heroic act and stands as an inspiring example of selfless dedication. Keep up the excellent work.” Drishti Marine lifesavers Lovu Gaonkar, Samir Gaonkar, Sunil Velip, Sashikant Jadhav, Satish Gaonkar, Santendra Velip, and Kapil Velip were felicitated at the hands of Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte at Paryatan Bhavan in the presence of dignitaries and stakeholders.
