The Goa Suraksha Manch has resolved to contest the ensuing Civic polls for all the six municipal bodies in South Goa, promising to expose the government on a host of issues, including Mhadei.
Addressing the media on Friday to announce the South Goa district Committee, GSM state unit President Nitin Faldesai said the organization will contest the Civic polls for the Mormugao, Margao, Quepem, Canacona, Curchorem and Sanguem Municipalities in South Goa and four bodies in North Goa.
“Our local committees will soon meet the finalize the program for the elections and raise the issues plaguing the common man”, he said.
Saying that the GSM will expose the government on a host of issues, Faldesai said that Mhadei issue and the diversion of water to Karnataka will be made an election issue by the organization.
Extending support to the villagers of Melaulim opposing the IIT project, Faldesai said though the GSM supports the setting up of the IIT project in Goa, the organization is strongly opposed to the government’s move to thrust the project upon the people of Melaulim.
