‘Unity Run’ held at Margao
MARGAO: A ‘Unity Run’ to commemorate the 147th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was flagged off from Multipurpose Hall, Fatorda at 7.30 am and culminated at the north stand of PJN stadium.
Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuekar flagged off the run in the presence of Juliana Gurjao e Colaco, former Deputy Director of Sports and Youth Affairs and a former international footballer.
Earlier, Laxmidas Mangeshker, APEO, Salcete welcomed the participants and guests at the run and read a introductory brief on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco was also present at the event.
‘Hills To Himalayas’ book to be released
PANAJI: Mapusa-based trekking group, Eco Treks Goa, is releasing its first book on trekking titled, ‘Hills to Himalayas’, on November 5 at 4 pm at Nalanda Hall, EDC House, Panaji.
The book will be released by filmmaker and theatre artist and the chief guest of the evening, Dnyanesh Moghe, guest of honour, environmentalist and writer, Rajendra Kerkar, and corporate trainer and writer, Pravin Sabnis, who will also speak on the book.
This book is a visual story-telling by 36 trekkers as they narrate the wonderful experience they had while trekking. The trekkers have penned down the beauty of the mighty Himalayas, the hidden gems of Western Ghats, trekking on the beach at night under the moonlight, about the historical forts at Raigadh, Pratapgadh, Torna, to name a few.
The book is a first-hand documentation of the places, wonders of nature, and most importantly how such a simple activity of trekking has helped these trekkers physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Conference on incorporating elements of theatre into pedagogy
PANAJI: As part of the diamond jubilee year, the Nirmala Institute of Education will be holding an international conference on the theme, ‘Incorporating Elements of Theatre into Pedagogy at Different Levels of Education’ on November 4 and 5. The conference aims at exploring pedagogies for incorporating elements of theatre at different levels of education to create a more comprehensible atmosphere for a better understanding of a given subject.
The broad topics under which the research papers can be submitted are - Incorporating elements of theatre into subject pedagogies of ‘Sciences and Art and Humanities,’ Developing different kinds of intelligences through theatre, skill enhancement through theatre, enhancing the growth of differently abled through theatre, therapeutic use of theatre and elements of indigenous theatre forms as an aid for non-formal education.
The conference aims to incorporate various disciplines and tries to fulfil the objective of ‘Art inclusive teaching “ learning’ as suggested in NEP 2020.
Goa ICAI conducts outreach programmes
PANAJI: The Goa Branch of WIRC of ICAI recently conducted several outreach programmes at various colleges in Goa.
“Our core agenda is to serve our chartered accountant members and chartered accountancy students bug going one step ahead we decided to use our resources for betterment of college students,” stated chairperson of Goa ICAI Gaurav Kenkre.
Conducting programmes in various colleges across Goa, ICAI covered topics like ESG audit, careers in commerce, internal audit, budgeting, inflation etc, benefitting around 1000 students.
Goa ICAI recently conducted programmes in financial literacy, career counselling and investor awareness in the DMC College, the Dempo College, CES College, Government College, Quepem, St Xavier’s College (Mapusa), Vidya Prabodhini College and Fr Agnel College, Pilar.
These outreach programmes will continue and extend to secondary and higher secondary schools as well for improving financial knowledge of the students and for offering career guidance.
Zatras in the State to begin with Bori Zatrotsava
PANAJI: Kartik Poornima initiates the zatrotsava in the State and various religious and cultural programmes will begin from November 6 onwards, stated Shyam Prabhudesai, President of Shree Navdurga Saunsthan.
This year presentation of Vijaykumar Naik’s plays ‘Vijayotsava’ will be held at Shree Navdurga Saunsthan auditorium.
The natyamahotsava will begin with avali bhoj in the morning and inauguration of natyamahotsava with ‘Ahilyoddhar’ play at 7 pm.
On November 7 Samrat Club Bori will celebrate Marthi Rangabhoomi Din in the morning, and play ‘Palshetchi Vihir’ will be staged at 7 pm and sangod nauka vihar at 10 pm.
On November 8 will begin with tarang and deepotsava in the morning and fancy dress contest and prize distribution by Samrat Club Bori in the evening.
Exhibition of 100 Diwali magazines inaugurated
PANAJI: An exhibition of around 100 Diwali magazines published this year was inaugurated at the Art and Culture department’s City Library in the Ravindra Bhavan complex, Sakhalim in the presence of Sulaksha Kolmule, incharge curator of Central Library (Krishnadas Shyama Central Library Panaji).
Lauding the project, Kolmule said that such an exhibition will help people to get free access to the Diwali magazines under one roof.
The project that started last year received a huge response which motivated the organisers to continue it this year too, said Librarian of City Library Brijesh Chanekar.
He appealed to the public to avail the facility and read as many Diwali magazines as possible. Shweta Mavlingkar contributed in arranging and putting in place the entire exhibition.
Chanekar along with Santosh Mashelkar, Siddhi Shelapkar, Anand Gawde, Vachak Kerkar and employees of Ravindra Bhavan were present on the occasion.
