KLS Gogte Institute of Technology MCA Dept celebrates 25 years of excellence

The Department of Master of Computer Application at KLS Gogte Institute of Technology (KLS GIT) celebrated its Silver Jubilee with a grand event. The inauguration began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a presentation on the department’s 25-year journey by Dr Jayashri Madalgi.   

Around 350 alumni of the engineering college and MCA department, hailing from Goa, Maharashtra, other parts of India, and abroad, participated in the celebrations.   

Gokul Alex, Associate Director at KPMG India, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the importance of ‘attention’ in the field of technology. “Engineers should develop skills like critical thinking and design thinking,” he said, while discussing transformative technologies driving the current data revolution. He also conducted a session on Quantum Computing for MCA students.   

The event honoured the contributions of senior faculty members who led the MCA department over the past 25 years. Principal Dr MS Patil expressed the purpose of the event, saying, “This celebration acknowledges 25 years of achievements and memories, strengthens alumni connections, and inspires future leaders by showcasing the success stories of our alumni.”   

Dr MS Patil addressed the gathering, followed by a message from KLS President Anant Mandgi, who emphasised the importance of fostering entrepreneurs with a sense of social responsibility.   

A special souvenir, Rajatotsava, was released to commemorate the department’s remarkable journey.   

KLS Chairman Pradeep Sawkar, in his presidential address, reflected on the technological advancements over the years and the key role of MCA graduates in driving innovation. He also recalled the first alumni meet held outside Belagavi, which took place in Dubai in 2016. The event was graced by the presence of KLS GIT Governing Council Chairman Raj Belgaumkar and Prof Dr Emmi.
