Rider dies of injuries in Mapusa mishap

A 38-year-old man from Delhi but residing at Mapusa, who was seriously injured in a road mishap at Bodguinim-Mapusa, died while undergoing treatment at the GMC hospital at Bambolim on Wednesday. The mishap took place on Monday at about 11.15 pm, when Umesh Mahendra Kumar was proceeding on the main road on a two-wheeler, while Joel Rodrigues of Taleigao was going from Mapusa towards Panaji in a car. On the way, the car struck the two-wheeler at Bodguinim-Mapusa.

As a result, Kumar was seriously injured in the mishap and was first shifted to the Mapusa District Hospital, from where he was referred to the GMC hospital. Mapusa police registered a case against the car driver, Joel Rodrigues, and further investigation is being conducted by Police Sub-Inspector Mangesh Palani. The deceased was working as an AC and DTH mechanic and lived in Mapusa along with his wife and children.
