MARGAO: Agxem Sports Club and United Club of Unjirim emerge winners in their respective semi-final matches of the late Roque Fernandes memorial 9-a-side football tournament, organised by Fondegal Sports Club, at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Saturday.
Agxem SC secured a thrilling 6-5 victory over Cumborda SC via a penalty shoo-tout after a closely contested match. Blason opened the scoring for Cumborda in the first half, but Steven equalised for Agxem in the second half forcing the tie-breaker. Agxem's composure held strong in the penalty shootout, as they emerged victorious.
The second semi-final between United Club of Unjirim and SFX Sports Club Camarxeth mirrored the first, ending in a goalless draw after regulation time. Once again, the penalty shoot-out determined the winner, with Unjirim proving the more clinical side from the spot.
