Panaji: Yuva Panaji, in collaboration with the Directorate of Official Language, Goa, organised a one-day awareness programme to promote the use of Konkani in administration. The event was graced by Dr Padmanabh Rataboli, Prashant Shirodkar (Director of Official Language), Anil Sawant (Deputy Director), Prof Dr Kiran Budkule, Yuva Panaji President Sarvesh Shetye, and Vice President Sanath Bharne.
Dr Rataboli highlighted the richness and historical significance of the Konkani language, stressing the importance of such initiatives to increase its use in government and administrative work. A total of 248 participants, including government employees, teachers, students, and citizens, attended the programme. Held simultaneously in two auditoriums, the event provided insights into the Official Language Act and demonstrated how the use of Konkani can improve communication and make administrative correspondence more effective.
The programme featured interactive sessions by speakers such as Damodar Ghanekar and Dr Palia Pandit, who explained how using Konkani can streamline administrative processes, improve communication, and strengthen ties with the Goan community. This initiative aims to enhance Konkani’s role in administration, preserve cultural identity, and boost the efficiency of government operations in Goa.
