Dr Prakash Arjun Gawas of Chandel-Pernem has successfully completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Polytechnique Montreal, Canada, in the Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering. His achievement has brought pride not only to his family but also to the entire Pernem taluka. Dr Gawas pursued his research in the field of Applied Mathematics and Operations Research, contributing to advanced solutions in the area through his academic dedication and international exposure. He began his doctoral journey in January 2020 and completed it in January 2025. An alumnus of IIT Bombay, where he completed his Master of Technology in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, Dr Gawas also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Goa College of Engineering. He is currently working as a researcher in Montreal, Canada. His professional experience includes roles such as Data Analyst at Bloom Energy and Operations Research Intern at Merinio, Montreal. Dr Gawas is the son of Arjun Sukdo Gawas, Police Sub Inspector with Goa Police and a recipient of the Goa CM Gold Medal, and Asmita Arjun Gawas, Assistant Sub Inspector with Goa Police.
