The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Govt of Goa, Salcete Taluka Office has organized a cleanliness drive programme under Mission Clean India to commemorate the Azadika Amrit Mohatsav by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt of India on October 6 and 7 in collaboration with South Goa Collectorate in Margao. On Oct 6, cleanliness Drive was started from Ravindra Bhavan to Damodar Temple and from Damodar Temple to Rosary School and the periphery of PJN Stadium Fatorda from 8 am onwards where about 55 sportspersons/Physical Education Teachers along with office staff participated.
Angela de Abreu Naik, former international taekwando player and prestigious Jivba Dada Kerkar awardee was present. During the programme the focus was given to collect maximum plastic garbage thrown about indiscriminately. About 40 bags of garbage has been collected during the drive. On Oct 7, the cleanliness drive will start from Power house Junction to Davorlim Sports Club Ground and than after cleanliness of Kumra Zor (natural water body) from 8am onwards.The programme will be attended by renowned sportspersons of Goa. All those interested are requested to participate.
