Chief Minister Pramod Sawant commenced the work of cleaning and desilting of Salaulim Irrigation Project Canal for a length of 60 km under MGNREGA scheme of Department of Rural Development in convergence with Department of Water Resources as a part of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Swayampurna Goa programme at Cotamol, Cuncolim on Friday.
Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar, Minister for Water Resources Filip Neri, Cuncolim MLA Clafasio Dias, Vice Chairperson of Cuncolim Municipal Council Videsh Dessai, councillors, sarpanchas and panchas of the vicinity were present.
Speaking on the occasion the CM said that the government doesn’t make only statements but works for the welfare of the State and its people. The government is successfully implementing the Atmanirbhar Bharat programme - a call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in coordination with Swayampurna Goa. The government has been concentrating to generate skilled manpower and to increase the local agriculture produce, Sawant said.
