MARGAO: Corjem Sports Club secured a thrilling victory over SFX Camarxett via tie-breaker in the ongoing 9-a-side football tournament, organised by Sporting Club Virabhat, at St. Alex Church ground, Curtorim on Monday.
Corjem got off to a strong start with goals from Ashford and Malcom in the first session. However, SFX Camarxett displayed fighting spirit in the second half, with James Fernandes netting a quickfire double to level the score.
As the game remained deadlocked after full time, a tie-breaker shootout was required to determine the winner. Corjem emerged victorious in the nerve-wracking penalty battle, showcasing their superior composure from the spot.
James Fernandes' impressive performance earned him the man of the match award which was presented by Salim Castanha.
