The Department of English, MES College of Arts & Commerce organised an experiential learning trip to Goa Chitra Museum, Benaulim; Houses of Goa Museum, Penha de Franca and Sunaparanta, Goa Centre for the Arts, Panjim. The trip aimed at exposing students to the art and culture pockets of the state while at the same time sensitising students to understand art which is another form of literature. In the words of a student, "I like places and things which make me think and looking at those photographs, exhibits and audio-visual representations gave me the exact experience to do so." The students were exposed to the life and living of the past centuries of Goa, artifacts from diverse places and expressions of the various artists. Victor Hugo Gomes from Goa Chitra Museum, Gerard da Cunha from Houses of Goa Museum and Nilima Kamat Menezes from Sunaparanta spoke to the students and briefed them about the speciality of the respective places, kindling the curious spirit of the young minds. The one-day study trip consisted of 28 students and four members of the faculty. The department strives to bring together art and artists of the state and country to provide a rich cultural exposure to the students.
