Ghumot workshop launched in Chinchinim

In a bid to revive Goa’s traditional musical heritage, the Chinchinim-Deussua Panchayat, in collaboration with the Department of Art and Culture, launched a Ghumot Workshop at St Mary’s Convent High School, Chinchinim. Director of Art and Culture Sagun Velip inaugurated the event, joined by Assistant Cultural Officer Kranti Chari, Sarpanch Frank Viegas, Deputy Sarpanch Sharmila Gracias, and Panchayat members. The Ghumot, Goa’s State instrument, is central to the state’s musical tradition. The workshop aims to teach its playing technique and raise cultural awareness. Viegas thanked the department for supporting grassroots initiatives and urged villagers to participate. Velip reaffirmed the department’s commitment to promoting Goan heritage in local communities. The Panchayat plans to hold more such events to preserve and celebrate Goa’s vibrant cultural legacy.

PANAJIA meaningful Blood Donation Camp was held at St. Lawrence High School Hall, Agassaim, Goa, in collaboration with Goa Medical College and the Allan Silveira Charitable Foundation on May 6.
