On the 71st birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a jackfruit garden was started by planting 71 AyurJack variety saplings at Raj Bhavan. Now, the plants in the garden have started bearing fruits, which is 20 months from the date of plantation and ready to be harvested. The jackfruit has significance in our daily lives and is an integral part of our traditional menu for many homes in South India. Jackfruit plantation is also being undertaken by many Goans. Hence, Raj Bhavan is conducting a ‘Jack Fruit Festival’ on June 10 at 12 pm in Raj Bhavan, New Darbar Hall. Governor of Telangana Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, Governor of Bihar Rajendra Arlekar, Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai, Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar and Vice Chancellor Goa University Prof Harilal Menon will grace the function.
