Goan artist Jyoti Mehta's artwork 'Missing Those Days' has bagged an award in the painting competition organised by Kala Ratnam Foundation Art Foundation at Uttar Pradesh. The contest was held online and artists from Indonesia, Czech Republic, Thailand, Australia etc had participated in it. Mehta's award-winning painting depicts today's school going children's state of mind and what they are currently missing. “The children are now deprived of their 'school bag' which is their identity, and which carries so much treasure, not only in the form of books, but friendship, affection, love... I tried to show a reflection of these emotions in my painting,” says Mehta. “The corona pandemic has deprived our children from their simple, everyday routine - of their school life, of meeting their friends, playing together, and learning. The school brings together children from different backgrounds, religions, classes etc. They play together, share their tiffin, learn, laugh, and quarrel too. Now they are missing all of this... and I thought that would be the perfect emotion to paint on the canvas,” shares the artist.
