A rider was injured while a stray cattle was killed at Maxem late Friday night, in yet another mishap on the Manohar Parrikar Bypass. According to sources, a motorcycle was proceeding from Karwar when the rider rammed into a stray cattle on reaching Maxem.The impact was such that the rider was flung several metres away, while the motorcycle fell on one side and the cattle lay dead on the road. Former Loliem-Polem sarpanch and sitting panch Ajay Lolienkar who happened to reach the spot informed police and the injured rider was later shifted to the Canacona Community Health Centre (CHC). A number of mishaps have been reported on the Manohar Parrikar Bypass in the past few weeks and locals said insufficient illumination and stray cattle have made the route dangerous for traffic.
