PORVORIM:A futsal court and a community hall built by the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) at a cost of Rs 1.3 crore were inaugurated at Britona, opposite the Penha de Franca panchayat office.
Tourism Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte inaugurated the project in the presence of Zilla Panchayat member Kavita Naik, Penha de Franca Sarpanch Swapnil Chodankar, panch members, and Porvorim BJP Mandal President Vinit Parab.
Speaking on the occasion, Khaunte said there was a complaint from residents in Wards 1“4 that all development was taking place on the Porvorim plateau in Wards 5 to 11. “Since there are no recreational facilities at Britona, this futsal court and a small community hall have been built by the GTDC at a cost of Rs 1.3 crore. This futsal court has been provided with a walking track so that senior citizens can walk in the morning and evening,” said Khaunte.
“The small community hall will be useful for residents in Britona to organise small functions and can also be used as an election booth.”
Penha de Franca Sarpanch Swapnil Chodankar said this is the third futsal court developed in the village.
“Most open spaces in the panchayat area have been developed as per the wishes of the people,” said Chodankar.
Panch Adv. Shantaram Naik welcomed the gathering while Ravi Naik later proposed the vote of thanks.
