Shiv Samarth Sanskrutik Mahila Bhajan Mandal bagged first prize in the 7th edition of Mormugao Taluka Women Bhajan competition organised by Mormugao Jestha Natya Sahittyik Kalakar Sanghatana in memory of late Manda Narayan Bandekar. The prizes were distributed at the hands of noted industrialist Narayan Bandekar.
The contest saw the participation of eight women bhajan mandals. Roshan Bandekar, director of NRB Group of Industries was present at the prize distribution event as chief guest and Narayan Bandekar as special guest. Shree Brahmaneshwar Belabai Mahila Bhajan Mandal got the second prize and Shree Gajanan Mahila Bhajan Mandal won the third prize. Two consolation prizes were given to Shree Rastroli Jai Santoshi Mata Bhajan Mandal and Shree Ishwari Brahman Sankrutik Mahila Bhajan Mandal. The prize for best singer was bagged by Rajani Toraskar. There were other prizes too, Siddhi Holkar got best gavalan singer prize while best Pakhavaj player was Sneha Narvekar and best Harmonium player Shalaka Chavhan.
