UP techie held with drugs in Palolem raid

A software engineer from Uttar Pradesh but employed with a Chennai-based software company and working online from Goa since the last seven months was arrested by Canacona police in the wee hours of Friday on charges of illegally possessing ganja at Palolem.

According to reports, Canacona police acted on a reliable information and conducted the narcotic raid between 2.20 am to 3.50 am on Friday at Ourem-Palolem, Canacona,and caught Ashish Sanjay Sharma (26).

The accused was allegedly found in possession of 60 grams of ganja. Canacona police arrested the accused under the NDPS Act and he is in custody. Police said the accused was an engineering student and had been working with a software company at Chennai. While he was in Goa on holidays due to the Covid lockdown, he got stranded in Goa since March 1 and began working online by staying in Goa as per his company’s directions. Canacona police is nvestigating the case.

Javadekar arrives in Goa to douse farm bills fires

PANAJIUnion Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar arrived in Goa on Friday on a mission to douse the fires ignited by the Centre pushing through the farm bills which farmers across the country are agitating against. Javadekar is slated to meet with groups of farmers at Mapusa and Chorao on Saturday.BJP sources said the Central leader will hold forth on howthe three new legislations will benefit farmers in the meetings on Saturday.
