Goa Livelihoods Forum (GLF) and The Global Goals together is organising a webinar on the ‘Role of Media - Sustainable Developmental Goals and Goa’ on June 27 at 4.30 pm. The speakers at the webinar are informatics and governance expert Anupam Saraph, former Finance Secretary of Goa Daulat Hawaldar, IAS, author Charudatta Panigrahi and Dharmanand Vernekar, advisor, Goa Livelihoods Forum.
“This consultation hosted by us aims to bring about in Goa, increased choice and community-based approaches in livelihoods and sustainable developmental goals related themes. Through research, advocacy and innovative outreach programs on the ground, the forum is looking at reinvigorating the civil society,” states Dharmanand Vernekar, advisor, GLF. The central objective of the mission is to establish efficient effective institutional platforms for the poor and the marginalized that enable them to increase household incomes through livelihood enhancement and improve access to financial and public services. “The media can be a significant and meaningful stakeholder in the quest,” feels Vernekar.Meanwhile, media coverage has been continuously visible in developing nations such as India, South Africa and Nigeria. Many countries have been organizing workshops at junior and senior high schools, universities, special needs institutes, and preparatory classrooms.
